What’s on in Walthamstow this week

On Saturday 6 August the McGuffins Film and TV Fundraising Quiz night returns to the Rose and Crown Theatre Pub on Hoe Street. Starting at 8.30pm and costing £1.50 per contestant for teams of upto six people, this raises funds for the campaign to restore the EMD as a cinema. The winners will receive £50 and second prize is £20. For more details visit here

On Sunday 7 August there will be the annual E17 Jazz Picnic in Stoneydown Park on Pretoria Avenue, near Blackhorse Road tube. This free event is organised by local volunteers and starts at 1pm in the park – there will be refreshments including Pimms and a barbeque as well as a bouncy castle, hula hoop workshop and a hotly contested "tug o’war" competition. E17 Jazz are a local collective that perform regularly in the borough and who are all top UK musicians.

On Saturday 13 August Shernhall Methodist Church on the corner of Shernhall Street and Oliver Road is holding an indoor and outdoor boot sale and coffee morning with bric-a-brac, clothes, jewellery, cards, toys, books and more. Hot and cold food and refreshments will also be available and admission is free. The event runs between 11am and 1pm and for more information contact events2visit@gmail.com
